About the Project
Meet Tim and Joan, a sweet, retired couple from Arlington, Texas, planning to sell their home in the next few years.
They were at a loss about their master bath remodel. Although they love Texas, it was time to get rid of the outdated Texas Star. Plus, the tile floor was falling apart, hidden by rugs.
Yet the biggest issue was the useless spa tub with the unreachable faucet on the other side. Joan had to climb in and get a cold awakening just to turn it on!
Before Remodel
The Process
It was obvious that the spa tub had to go. We demolitioned the bathroom, carefully ensuring safety of the chandelier and their existing high-quality glass shower door.
They chose a beautiful 3 x 12 marble tile for the shower and white hexagon porcelain tile for the bathroom floor.
Yet the cost to use the marble tile on all the walls would be astronomical!
We had to address the walls that were tiled from floor to ceiling where the spa tub had been. So we suggested cost-efficient solutions to keep within their budget.
The Result
Where tile was not necessary, we installed drywall greatly reducing costs. For added interest we gave them a Norfolk Veneer finish above new wainscoting.
The hexagon floor tiles finished the entire bathroom beautifully!
To enhance the beautiful marble, we installed the same tile inside the two niches in a herringbone pattern, adding much needed storage space.
In their curb-free shower, we carefully installed pebble tile that transitioned into the hexagon floor. Finally, Cornerstone’s experienced team was able to reinstall their beautiful glass! Tim and Joan were thrilled!
In the end, not only will this bathroom add value when they eventually sell it, Tim and Joan absolutely enjoy their new bathroom!
