About the Project
In the world since Covid, purchasing homes in Texas has been quite the challenge! At one point, houses were selling so fast in order to make a purchase people had to view homes remotely and hope for the best.
This was the situation for a sweet couple purchasing their first home together. They were relocating to the beautiful state of Texas and thought they found the perfect home. Upon arrival, they soon discovered that the master bathroom was not all they thought it to be.
Before Remodel
First, they discovered the tub’s floor-mounted pedestal faucet had much to be desired when it fell over while preparing for a relaxing bath. Then they found the light-weight free standing tub would move as it was not secured to the floor!
Another issue they didn’t see over remote video was poor grouting in the shower. It was literally flaking off in various places while they used it! This is a huge problem and is likely to cause water damage over time.
Cornerstone came to the rescue to help.
The Process
We reviewed the tub situation and all agreed that the lightweight tub was not working, so we worked with our client to help them carefully choose a replacement. We found with the broken faucet that the floor tile had to be repaired. Once the tub arrived, we brought in our team to install their new claw-foot tub and secure the pedestal faucet to the floor.
Next, we prepared to repair the tile’s grout in the shower. The mud pan’s penny tile was so poorly installed that we had to replace it. We suggested a beautiful blue mosaic tile to liven up the space. With all the tile work to be done on the shower walls, we suggested that they might want to have some additional storage with a larger double niche.
Our clients loved the idea and were excited to have a functional and beautiful walk-in shower.
The Result
In the end, we were able to turn around their useless master bathroom and improve its form and function!
They now enjoyed a lovely walk-in shower with more storage and had new confidence using the deep and secure claw-foot tub with a sturdy faucet.
Plus, the added blue accent tile in the shower was exactly what they had hoped!
While they had learned a valuable “buyer beware” lesson, this couple now knows they can trust their home to Cornerstone.
