About the Project
This four-generation family in DeSoto, Texas, needed a larger shower rather than a little used bathtub.
With no shelves or niche, they were also putting all the shower supplies in the windowsill. The biggest problem? The shower head was so low the tall grandson in the family had to crouch down to wash his hair! It was time to convert that tub to a shower.
The Process
We removed the tub and enlarged the area for the shower, tiling around the window and up to the ceiling. Our team ensured that the shower head was also raised several inches. We prepared the area around the window for tile, plus designed a niche and new custom bench with extra storage room beneath.
The Result
Everyone including the great-grandfather, grandson and his wife all love their beautiful new shower! No more crouching! The new niche holds daily shower supplies, plus the custom bench adds much needed storage for additional large shower supply bottles below.
In the end, the grandson added value to his grandfather’s beautiful home and greatly improved its function for the entire family.
